Deputy Fire Chief of the Folcroft Fire Department, 28-year old, Matthew Bateman, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year old boy at the firehouse. A 6 ABC Action News report said the victim told police that Bateman kissed and inappropriately touched the teen numerous times during the summer.
The teen reportedly worked at the fire station as a junior firefighter during the summer. Bateman admitted to kissing the teenager, but denied any inappropriate touching.
Bateman is currently being held at an undisclosed jail on $750,000 bail. He is reportedly facing numerous charges related to the incident. Bateman’s preliminary hearing is set for January 12th, 2023.
