A student who attends Saint Joseph’s University was reportedly shot in an attempted carjacking that happened in the Overbrook section of the city last night. 6 ABC Action News reported that the incident happened on Upland Way near Drexel Road at around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday night.
The victim, who turned 21-years old yesterday, was just pulling up to his apartment, driving a blue Subaru Outback. As he got out of the car he was approached by a black minivan. Two males wearing masks and hoodies, reportedly jumped out of the minivan and announced a robbery as they approached the victim. As the suspects attempted to take the victim’s keys, a struggle ensued. The victim was pistol-whipped and then shot in the knee. The suspects reportedly got back in the minivan and fled after the shooting.
The victim was taken to Lankenau Medical Center. He was last reported to be in stable condition.
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
