Philadelphia Police said an 8-year old fired a gun in the schoolyard of a charter school this morning. A report from NBC-10 Philadelphia said, the incident happened in the schoolyard of the Achievement Charter Elementary School at around 8:55 a.m. on Thursday morning.
According to police the gun went off accidentally. Fortunately, no one was reported injured. The school went in lockdown for about 20-minues afterward. The boy reportedly had the gun with him inside of the school, but didn’t fire the weapon until he was outside for recess.
Police recovered the gun and took the child into custody. At this time, there has been no word on where the child got the gun, or if he will face charges for bringing the weapon to school and firing it.
