PHOYO COURTESY: THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER A Philadelphia Police K-9 officer and his dog prepare to look for a suspect near the 2300 block of North Reese Street in North Philadelphia after a Philadelphia Police officer was shot on Monday, August 23, 2021. The officer survived with grazed wound.

Police said the undercover officer was sitting in his unmarked vehicle at the time the driver’s side door was hit by a bullet, ultimately cracking the glass, and injuring the undercover cop. Reports said the officer initially thought he’d been shot because of the amount of blood he was losing. Doctors later determined that he’d just been cut by the glass shards. The officer was last reported to be in stable condition.

No word on if the officer was targeted or hit by random gunfire aimed elsewhere. No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made so far.
