The Russian State-Run Media Agency, TASS, reported that a Russian court has agreed with investigators that they needed more time to Investigate the case of WNBA star, Brittney Griner. According to a report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS, Griner must now remain in a Russian prison until at least May 19th.

Griner was reportedly detained at the Moscow airport, as she was getting ready to board an airplane back to America. Her luggage was searched, and authorities at the airport alleged to have found “significant amounts of narcotic substance”. Russia had accused the 31-year old WNBA star of smuggling narcotics. Griner has reportedly not been able to see a U.S. Consulate representative while in Russia, which Russia continues to vehemently deny, instead saying that no American Consulate member has come to visit Griner, even with their “willingness” to “create all conditions for their visit.”
