Philadelphia Police were investigating a shooting that took place on Saturday afternoon in the Germantown section of the city. A report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS said the incident happened on the 300 block of Ashmead Street at around 4:30 p.m.

Police arrived on the scene to find a 17-year old suffering from a gunshot wound. He was found in an upper bedroom in the house. The teenager was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The teenager passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.

An initial look at the crime scene led police to believe the teen had accidentally shot himself. Further investigation, now lead police to believe the teen was shot by a 9-year old, who picked up the weapon and pulled the trigger. No further details have been provided at this time.
