Saturday night was another night of shootings in the city of Philadelphia. On this particular Saturday, 5 teenagers were shot in separate incidents within a three-hour period. Two of the five shot teenagers died.
A report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS said that a 17-year old male was shot and killed at around 5:30 p.m. That shooting happened on East Washington Lane & Gardenia Street. Police say the victim was with two other men at the scene, when at least one of the men pulled out a gun and shot him at least four times.
Police responded to reports of gunshots being fired on the 1800 block of McClellan Street in South Philly, just minutes before the shooting on Washington Lane. In this shooting incident, police say a 16-year old male and a 19-year old male were both shot as they walked to the store. The 19-year old reportedly died from his injuries at the hospital, the 16-year old is reportedly expected to survive.
A reported “road rage” shooting on the 2000 block of East Orleans Street in North Philly at around 6:30 p.m., left a 17-year old male in extremely critical condition. According to police, the 17-year old was helping another man in his 20’s fix his car. They had reportedly left a cone in the street. At some point, a car pulled up and an argument started about the cones stopping traffic from getting by. The argument between the car’s occupants and the victims escalated quickly.
At around 7:30 p.m. a 19-year old was shot one time in the area of 9th Street & Lindley Avenue in the Ogontz section of the city. The victim is expected to survive his injuries. No arrests have been made so far.
