DURANGO, COLORADO

A woman was found dead in Durango, Colorado on Friday night. Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced that the dead woman was very likely the victim of a bear attack. The 39-year old woman’s name has not yet been released.

CBS News (@CBSNews)https://www.cbsnews.com/ reported, the woman reportedly went on a walk with her two dogs on Friday night. The woman’s boyfriend told the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office that when he returned home that night, his girlfriend was not there, but the two dogs were. He said he then searched for her. He reportedly found her body not far from the home the couple shared, near a local highway.

CPW wildlife officers and La Plata County Sheriff’s deputies reported “signs of consumption” on the woman’s body. They also said there was “an abundance of bear scat and hair” at the scene.
