Ermias Davidson Asghedom, better known as rapper Nipsey Hussle, was shot and killed outside of his clothing store in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles on Sunday, according to the local authorities. Nipsey Hussle was among three people shot in the incident on Sunday afternoon. The conditions of two other people shot in the incident yesterday has not been released.

 

 

 

The New York Times (@NYtimes) reported, cops said Nipsey Hussle and the two other people shot in the incident, were reportedly shot in the parking lot outside of the store. Police reported that Nipsey Hussle was shot multiple times. Lt. Chris Ramirez of the LAPD said police were still trying to piece together exactly what happened, and that they have no motive for the murder. Ramirez said that at least one suspect fled from the scene in a car.

 

 

 

Nipsey Hussle opened the Marathon Clothing Store on Slauson Avenue in 2017. Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti tweeted

 

 

“Our hearts are with the loved ones of Nipsey Hussle and everyone touched by this tragedy. L.A. is hurt deeply each time a young life is lost to senseless gun violence.”

 

 

Nipsey Hussle’s debut studio LP for Atlantic Records titled “Victory Lap” was nominated for best rap album at this years’ Grammy Awards. Nipsey Hussle created a major buzz in the music industry back in 2013 when he created only 1000 physical copies of his mixtape “Crenshaw”, which was an independent release. Nipsey sold the mixtape free online, and sold the physical copies for $100 a pop. Jay-Z reportedly purchased 100 of the 1000 physical copies. Nipsey Hussle was known for his philanthropy as much as he was known for his music. He was in the process of rejuvenating his neighborhood. In 2018, Hussle opened a STEM Center and coworking space called Vector in his same Crenshaw neighborhood. Nipsey Hussle also invested in multiple real estate projects in his neighborhood. Nipsey Hussle was 33-years old.
