31-year old, founder of the conservative youth activist organization, Turning Point U.S.A, Charlie Kirk, was reportedly shot and killed during an event he was speaking at in Oram Utah this afternoon.
A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened at Utah Valley University at around noon on Wedenesday afternoon.
Utah Valley University said a single shot was fired at Kirk who was at the school as a guest speaker. Kirk was rushed to the hospital by his personal security according to Utah Valley.
“He [Kirk] was hit and taken from the location by his security”, Utah Valley University said in a statement.
Kirk’s organization Turning Point U.S.A. also released a statement after the shooting.
“With a heavy heart that we confirm that Charles James Kirk has been murdered by a gunshot during the campus event. We ask that everyone keep his family and loved ones in your prayers.”
A person of interest was taken into custody by the F.B.I., but was released shortly after. No suspects were named at this time and no arrests have been reported.
