A 12-year old boy was killed during a house fire in North Philadelphia yesterday.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the fire broke out at one of the units at the Johnson Homes located on the 1900 block of North 25th Street.

Fire officials said flames and smoke were on the first floor. A 12-year old boy was inside of the house trapped on the second floor. Firefighters managed to rescue the child from the burning home and he was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he died shortly after arriving.

Officials said at least two other children were trapped in the home. They were rescued and are expected to be ok. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
