An apartment building security guard was reportedly shot while on the job in West Philadelphia last night.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened at the Walnut Park Apartments located on the 6200 block of Walnut Street shortly before midnight on Wednesday.
First arriving police reported finding the security guard suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. He was rushed to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital where he was last reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Officers reportedly found the suspect hiding in some nearby bushes. He failed to respond to verbal commands by police to come out of the bushes, and was ultimately tased and arrested.
Police said the security guard and suspect had an altercation earlier in the day.
“We’re getting information they were involved in an early altercation, possibly today, but we’re not certain what the altercation was about, but that’s what possibly motivated tonight’s shooting” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.
