A man believed to be in his 70’s, reportedly shot and killed a man believed to be in his 40’s, after alleging that the victim was an intruder in the home early this morning in South Philly.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened on the 1600 block of 18th Street at around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.

First arriving police at the scene reported finding the victim in an upstairs hallway suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they also found one shell casing and a bullet hole in the bedroom door. The home was reportedly under renovation at the time.

Police said they found no evidence of forced entry at the home. An investigation is ongoing.
