A report from KYW-News Radio said the incident happened at the ShopRite Supermarket on Frankford Avenue at around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
According to police, they were called to the supermarket after a prevention officer at the store detained a man after watching him steal “a large quantity of bacon”. Police placed the man into custody and handcuffed him behind his back before placing the suspect in the backseat of their squad car. Officers say he somehow rolled down the window, climbed out of the car, and ran off, with his hands still cuffed behind his back.
Police brought in the dogs and searched the surrounding area, but the suspect was not found. Police say he was last seen running towards Crestmont Avenue…..with his hands still cuffed behind his back.
