A report from 6-ABC Action News said the incident happened at the Rosemore Gardens Apartments located along the 2300 block of Rosemore Avenue at around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
According to police, they were called by a young girl who said her mom’s boyfriend pulled out a gun and fired it. Officers were reportedly on the scene seconds after the call was received. Police said officers kicked the door in when they heard a woman yelling from inside of the house.
“Officers heard an additional gunshot followed by screaming, and immediately entered the apartment where there was an adult female inside”, said Chief Patrick Molloy with the Abington Township Police Department.
The two officers fired on the male suspect when they entered the property. The suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time.
