A report from 6-ABC Action News said the incident happened on the 2700 block of East Birch Street at around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
A Chevy SUV with only the front end above street level could be seen as 6 ABC’s helicopter surveyed in the area. A Nissan sat at the very edge of the sinkhole, but did not fall inside….yet. At least one pipe in the sinkhole could be seen leaking water. None of the neighbors on the block reported flooding in their basement, but the power company shut off service to do repairs on the block.
The SUV was pulled out of the sinkhole early this morning. The SUV reportedly only suffered minor damage. The owner drove the vehicle away after crews pulled the vehicle from the sinkhole.
