Former Philadelphia Homicide Detective, James Pitts was sentenced to serve 32 to 64 months in prison after being found guilty of assaulting a suspect and lying about it in court back in July of 2024.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said Pitts was accused of assaulting Obina Oniyah in 2010. The assault caused Oniyah to confess to the robbery and murder of William Glitz at a jewelry store. A crime Oniyah did not commit.

Pitts was found guilty of obstruction and perjury.
