A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened on the 1100 block of Cobbs Creek Parkway at around 11:00 p.m. on Monday night.
Police said a husband and wife, both in their 60’s, were at home when they saw the suspect tampering with their front door through their ring camera.
“The homeowners who were in the house at the time, they saw on their Ring Camera that somebody was tampering with the front door. After breaking into the doors and being confronted by the homeowner, that’s when the homeowner fired one shot, striking the 64-year old who has just broken into the house and he collapsed right inside of the enclosed front porch. That’s where police found him,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.
First arriving police officers at the scene found the intruder suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died shortly after arriving. Police say they believe the intruder was homeless. No charges against the homeowners were reported. An investigation is ongoing.
