A report from The Associated Press said the shooting happened at an apartment complex in San Antonio on Wednesday night. The call was reportedly made by a family member of the suspect, who has been identified as 46-year old, Brandon Scott Poulos.
When police arrived at the location, a female coming out of the apartment said he [Poulos] was inside shooting and on his way out. Police said Poulos appeared shortly afterward and open fired. One officer was shot in the leg. Poulos then retreated back into the house where he continued firing, hitting several more officers in the process. All of the injured officers are expected to recover from their injuries.
A SWAT team was called in as the scene turned into a barricade situation. Police attempted to negotiate Poulos’s peaceful surrender for hours to no avail. Police said Poulos’s body was found inside of the apartment a little later. Police said they do not yet know if he was shot by SWAT or if he shot himself. An investigation is ongoing.
