A report from 6-ABC Action News said starting today it will cost 50 cents more to ride on a SEPTA bus, trolley or train in Philadelphia. The price for regional rail services will also increase.
The move comes after Governor Shapiro shared the news that he will divert $150 million from federal highway funding to SEPTA. Shapiro’s move is said to help SEPTA avoid service cuts and another 20% fare hike that was scheduled for next year.
This is SEPTA’s first fare hike since 2017.
