A report from 6-ABC Action News said the incident happened on Saturday afternoon at the Air Capital Drop Zone, in Derby, Kansas, not too far from Witchita.
According to the report, Gallagher was on the plane to snap photos of the skydivers, which she did. She then rode the plane back down to the Air Capital Drop Zone after the jump. The Cessna 182 she was on was grounded but still running, according to a spokesperson from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
“For unknown reasons she moved in front of the wing, a violation of basic safety procedures. With her camera up as she did so, she stepped back slightly moving toward and into the spinning propeller” Air Capital Drop said in a statement.
Gallagher was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died as a result of her injuries. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
