A food safety alert was issued by the US Centers for Disease & Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday regarding an E.Coli outbreak linked to Mcdonald’s Quarter Pounders.

AN E.COLI OUTBREAK HAS BEEN LINKED TO MCDONALD’S QUARTER POUNDERS/PHOTO: KTLA

A report from CNN said the outbreak has been reported across 10 states thus far. Most of the cases have come out of Colorado and Nebraska. At least 49 cases have been reported. Ten people have reportedly been hospitalized, including a child who had Hemolytic Uremic, Syndrome, a complication that can develop from an E. COLI infection.

The CDC said most of the reported cases were from people who reported eating Mcdonald’s Quarter Pounders. The CDC said there could be many reasons the Quarter Pounder could be the culprit, but they are focusing on two of the burgers ingredients, silvered onions and beef patties. Those two ingredients are used exclusively for the Quarter Pounder at Mcdonald’s.

The CDC said Mcdonald’s has removed the ingredients from its stores in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Quarter Pounder Burgers may not be available at all at some Mcdonald’s locations. Anyone who becomes ill after eating a Mcdonald’s Quarter Pounder is advised to get medical attention immediately and tell the doctor what you ate.

Mcdonald’s stock price took a dip during after-hours trading as News of the outbreak hit the airwaves.
