An unidentified woman was reportedly struck by a vehicle and killed in the Fairmount Park section of the city early this morning.

PHILADELPHIA, P.A: AN UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN WAS STRUCK BY A HIT & RUN DRIVER ON TUESDAY MORNING NEAR DIAMOND STREET IN FAIRMOUNT PARK/ PHOTO: CBS-3 PHILLY

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the incident happened at Reservoir Drive & Diamond Street at around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Police inspectors reported finding a severely damaged wheel chair at the scene. Police are unsure if the victim was in the wheelchair or pushing it when they were struck by the hit & run driver. Witnesses said the victim was alive when they saw her lying in the road, but by the time police and first responders arrived she was deceased. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the vehicle in question was silver based on evidence left at the scene. Police also aren’t sure which way the vehicle fled after the crash. No suspects were named and no arrests have been made at this time.
