A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened at 57th Street & Larchwood Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators said the whole incident started when three young males boarded the bus at 19th Street & Oregon Avenue in South Philly, without paying.
“They had some words with the driver. However, the driver pretty much shrugged it off”, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.
The suspects got off of the bus at 57th & Catherine Streets in Southwest Philadelphia. Police said that was when one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired four shots into the passenger’s side of the crowded bus. There were reportedly more than 50 passengers aboard the bus at the time of the shooting. A 29-year old woman was shot in the buttocks, a 56-year old woman was shot in the back, and a 60-year old woman suffered a graze wound to the head. All three victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where all three women were last reported to be in stable condition.
It is not clear if the initial altercation with the bus driver was the motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made at this time. Police said the shooting was captured on surveillance video. An investigation is ongoing.
