PHILADELPHIA, P.A: A 17-YEAR OLD BOY WAS SHOT & CRITICALLY WOUNDED ABOARD A CROWDED SEPTA BUS ON ALLEGHENY AVENUE IN NORTH PHILLY/PHOTO: CBS-3 PHILLY

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened aboard a SEPTA bus as it traveled on Allegheny Avenue between 3rd & 4th Streets at around 6:15 p.m. on Friday evening.

Police said there were at least 30-passengers aboard the bus when the shooting happened. The teen was reportedly shot in the back of the bus at close range. Police believe the shooting was targeted. The SEPTA bus driver hit the panic button which allowed police to be on the scene practically moments after the shooting. When police arrived they found one spent shell casing on the bus. They did not find the victim aboard the bus. He had been rushed to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition.

Witnesses told police the shooter fled the scene in a silver-colored Kia. With help from a police helicopter, the car was located in a matter of minutes. It crashed into a parked car at 5th & Greenwood Streets in East My. Airy. The driver fled the car and escaped the scene on foot, but he was captured shortly afterward. Police say the shooter left his coat back at 4th & Allegheny. Police also found multiple spent shell casings inside of the vehicle.

A possible motive for the shooting has not been revealed at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
