A report from 6-ABC Action News said the discovery was made on the 2400 block of North Phillip Street at around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Police and emergency crews were called to the scene after neighbors reported a foul smell coming from a motor home parked on the block. A neighbor said she knew something was wrong when she got out of her car and took a whiff of the foul odor in the air.
““We were here yesterday, last night, and we was smelling and it just smelled very, very, bad”, said a neighbor who asked that her identity remained anonymous.
Police found the deceased man and woman once they entered the RV. The man was reportedly found on the bed and the woman was found near the doorway. Family members at the scene identified the male as 46-year old, Roberto Sanchez, who had been living in the RV with his 34-year old girlfriend for over a year. Roberto’s family said he had been struggling with drug addiction.
An official cause of death is still pending. Police said the deceased bodies may have been in the RV for days before being discovered. Police also said the deaths may be the result of a drug overdose.
“We have a strong belief that the deaths were the result of a narcotics overdose, but this is all pending final determination by the Medical Examiner’s Office”, said Philadelphia Police Inspector, D.F. Pace
