A report from 6-ABC Action News said court documents show that the theft happened at the Philadelphia Processing & Distribution Center located at 7500 Lindberg Boulevard on August 4th, 2024.

Irby was arrested and charged with mail theft on Wednesday. Court documents say Irby has worked as a mail handler at the facility since 2021, where he reportedly operates mail sorting machines. Irby has since been paced on “emergency placement” on Wednesday and is no longer working for USPS.

Police said the alleged theft happened on the morning of August 4th between 2:47 a.m. and 4:49 a.m. Irby reportedly clocked in for work at 10:19 p.m. on August 3rd. Police recovered all 112 envelopes on August 7th in a vehicle outside of Rivers Casino in Fishtown. The individual found in possession of the stolen checks is reportedly a suspect in an armed robbery at another casino. Police said all of the envelopes had been opened and the barcodes from four of the checks had been scanned at the same machine, which was in the vicinity of where police said they saw Irby on surveillance video.

The individual that was in possession of the checks during the arrests was not identified. He has not been charged with a crime at this time. Police did not give details as to how Irby sold the checks.
