POLICE OFFICER REPEATEDLY PUNCHED IN HEAD DURING BRAWL AT CHICKIE’S & PETE’S

An altercation at a restaurant involving four people, reportedly led to a police officer being punched multiple times as he attempted to break up the brawl.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said policed were called to the Chickie’s & Pete’s Restaurant located on the 1500 block of Packer Avenue at around 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening for a call of a disturbance.

First arriving police at the scene were told by store employees that a group of men had been involved in an altercation inside of the restaurant. Officers de-escalated that situation and were about to leave, when two more men began brawling. Police broke the fight up and took the two men and a woman into police custody to be charged with disorderly conduct.

A “clearly intoxicated”, third man that was with the group became belligerent when police attempted to detain and arrest him. He began punching the police officer in the side of the head repeatedly. He was eventually detained by multiple officers.

The first three suspects were issued code violations and released from police custody at the scene. The last suspect was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries, before being transported to central booking to be charged with assault on a police officer. The officer that was punched in the face suffered minor injuries to the face, head, and neck. The officer refused medical treatment for his injuries.
