An unidentified male operating a dirt bike was reportedly shot by a Philadelphia Police Officer in North Philadelphia yesterday.

A report from NBC-10 Philly said the incident began as officers approached the dirt bike rider in an attempt to pull him over at 6th & Somerset Streets In North Philly at around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the rider pulled into a gated area when he realized police were following him. One of the officers approached the rider to inform him that what he was doing was illegal. During the conversation, the rider allegedly “showed” a gun. At this point, a second officer reportedly fired at the rider, hitting him twice. The rider was taken to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition.
Not other details on the incident have been released at this time, including the age of the dirt bike rider.
