30-year old, Chicago Police Officer, Luis M. Huesca, was reportedly shot and killed on his way home from finishing a shift in Chicago. Detectives are working to determine if the officer was the victim of a carjacking, since his vehicle was taken from the scene.

A report from ABC-News said Huesca worked in the 5th District as a member of the Priority Response Team. Chicago Mayor, Brandon Johnson, posted about the incident on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday.
“I met with Officer Huesca’s mother and uncle this morning and assured them that they have my full support as they deal with this unspeakable loss. Our city is grieving, and our condolences go out to their entire family as well as Luis’ fellow officers and community”, Mayor Johnson posted to his X page on Sunday.
Officer Huesca was rushed to the University Of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. A motive has not been determined at this time, even though police are leaning towards carjacking being the motive.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named at this time.
