68-year old, Keith Steininger, from Upland Borough, P.A. is facing charges of sexual contact with a student, indecent assault of a person less than 13-years of age, unlawful contact with a minor, and a host of other charges, after an investigation that began on January 25th, 2024.
A report from 6-ABC Action News said police were contacted by a foster parent who said her child reported being assaulted for a period of two years between 2018-2020. At the time the child was between 11 and 13-years old.
The boy told his mother that he was touched by Steininger, the former teacher at Girard College and Boy Scout Leader, at his home while the child was a student at Girard College. Police said the assaults reportedly stopped after the child no longer attended the school. Authorities said that Steininger acknowledged the sexual contact and offered an apology during a phone call with the victim on April 11, 2024.
Authorities believe that there may be more victims due to the length of time Steininger worked at the boarding school (Girard College). Steininger retired from Girard College in July 2022, after working for the school for 41-years. Authorities also believe there are more victims because of the time Steininger spent as a Boy Scout Leader. Steininger was booked and is currently being held on a $250,000 bail. A date for his initial court appearance was not reported.
