19-year old, Halley Tejada and 18-year old, Kensley Alston were both taken into custody in Pennsylvania on Friday and charged in connection to the death of 52-year old, Nadia Vitels, whose body was found inside of a duffel bag in an apartment in Manhattan, New York.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said Vitels, who resides in Spain, arrived in Manhattan, New York, last week to prepare the the East 31st Street apartment owned by her mother, for a family friend.
The apartment had reportedly been vacant since the death of Vitels’ mother almost four months ago. When Vitels arrived she found a man and woman living inside of the apartment. At some point a struggle ensued. Vitels was reportedly slammed against a wall during the struggle. She reportedly died of blunt-force trauma to the head, before her body was stuffed into a duffel bag.
The suspects reportedly then stole Vitels’ Lexus and fled across the George Washington Bridge through New Jersey, before making their way into Pennsylvania, where they crashed the Lexus in Lower Paxton Township. Local police did not run the plates on the car until the day after the accident, which allowed the pair to escape arrest for the time being. Surveillance video of the pair leaving the apartment in Vitels’ Lexus helped to track the pair down after they attempted to buy a new car from multiple car dealerships…with $1000 cash. They were not successful.
The pair were able to occupy the apartment through the building’s elevator which opens directly into the apartment. The elevators require key access. Detectives are still trying to figure out how the pair got the elevator to open on Vitels’ floor. Tejada is being held on a charge of receiving stolen property, for possession of the victim’s Lexus. Both are being held for murder pending extradition back to New York.
