Philadelphia Police said they are stepping up efforts to get dirt bikes and ATV’s off the streets of Philly as the weather begins to warm up this year.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said police announced the creation of their new “Special Operations Team” on Wednesday. The team’s goal is to get the bikes off the streets, starting with the 15 ATV’s and dirt bikes they confiscated on Tuesday night.
“You will see a lot more of these details moving forward. We’ve done them in the past, but we’re going to really step up our game and do a lot more of them”, said Philly Police Deputy Commissioner, Jim Kelly.
Individuals who get their dirt bikes and ATV’s confiscated can appeal to get them back, but police say that at least 80% of the bikes confiscated end up being destroyed.
