A report from Fox-29 Philly said the shooting happened on the 2300 block of South Marshal Street at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Police said officers working routine patrol in the area heard the gunshots and made their way to the location. Upon arrival the officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk unresponsive and bleeding profusely from the head. She was rushed to Jefferson Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators watching real time video of the scene spotted two men fleeing the scene and entering a building on nearby Ritner Street before quickly exiting. Police headed over to the scene and apprehended both suspects after a brief foot pursuit. Police recovered two semi-automatic weapons from the suspects.

Police said that the woman was assaulted last week by one of the suspects who was apprehended for last night’s shooting. The victim was hospitalized with bruises to the face as a result of last week’s assault. A warrant had been issued for the man who committed the assault. An investigation is ongoing.
