 A 39-year old man was reportedly seriously wounded when an explosive device detonated inside of an apartment in West Philadelphia early this morning.

 A report from CBS-3 Philly said the explosion was reported at an apartment located on the 4500 block of Larchwood Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

 Officers from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (ATF) were called to the scene and remained at the location for hours. Police did not give many details about the situation, but did say that an unnamed device caused the explosion that sent a 39-year old male to the hospital with serious hand injuries.

 The building was briefly evacuated as authorities inspected the damage. An investigation is ongoing.
