A report from Fox-29 Philly said Carter was reportedly walking near West Wood & Powell Streets in Norristown at around 8 p.m. on January 20th, when he was ambushed by three men who jumped out of a grey Toyota Rav-4. The suspects pinned Carter against the wall before robbing and shooting him. The three suspects ran back to the Rav-4 and fled the scene, with the vehicle being driven by a 4th suspect.

Police said 18-year old, Damon Brantley Jr. from Norristown has been identified as the shooter. 29-year old, Daquan Allen from Norristown and 28-year old, Jerry Butler from Philadelphia were named as suspects by police. The trio were arrested in Endicott, N.Y. on January 31, and were last reported to be awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania to face charges related to Carter’s murder.

Investigators said the car Carter was driving the night he was killed belonged to his girlfriend, Katherine Emel. She reportedly placed a GPS tracking device in the trunk of the car to keep up with Carter’s movements. Cell phone records showed that Emel had communicated with Allen multiple times before Carter’s death. Emel allegedly told Allen that Carter had won $3000 gambling. She then provided the suspect’s with Carter’s location.

Police said surveillance video showed Emil meeting with Allen in Philadelphia on Broad Street, where he allegedly gave her $700. Emel ended up turning herself in to police shortly afterward. She has been charged with second degree murder and was not granted a bail. Emel is currently being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A date for Emel’s initial court appearance was not made available.
