 A 6-month old baby was reportedly forgotten and left alone inside of a day care after it closed for the day in the Hunting Park section of the city earlier this week.

 A report from 6-ABC Action News said the incident happened on the 4400 block of Whitaker Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.

 When the family arrived to pick up the child, they found the daycare was closed. They immediately called police.

 The family told reporters that they usually pick the child up at around 3 p.m., but didn’t arrive until 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Police said they daycare is supposed to be open until 6 p.m.

 Police called the owner to tell them the situation. The owner was on scene within minutes and opened the door. The baby was found peacefully sleeping inside of a car seat with the lights off. The baby was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital For Children to be evaluated.

 It is still not known how a baby was left behind. Police said they are interviewing multiple people and an investigation is ongoing.
