23-year old, Romeo Nance, who was accused of shooting and killing 8 people, and shooting and injuring a 9th, in Joliet, Ill, was reportedly shot and killed himself after a confrontation with law enforcement in Texas last night.

A report from ABC-7 Chicago said Nance was spotted by U.S. Marshals at a gas station in Natalia, Texas at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday night.

Nance was the prime suspect in a shooting spree in Joliet Illinois, that left 8 people dead and another injured. After being spotted by police at the gas station, Nance and the police reportedly had a “confrontation”, that ended with Nance dying from a self-inflicted wound, according to Medina County Sheriff, Randy Brown.

“At some point in there he took his own life. I can tell you that the suspect was neutralized, and there is no threat to the community”, Brown said on Monday night.

Nance died 1200 miles from where he’s accused of committing the shootings earlier in the day. Police said Nance’s killing spree started at around 4:27 p.m., when police responded to a call of a reported shooting at the Pheasant Run Apartments (Fox-32 Chicago)
