A report from 6-ABC Action News said the officers were responding to a call of “animals fighting” inside of a home on the 3600 block of Sepviva Street at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

According to police: officers arrived to find five pit bulls fighting inside of the home. Two of the dogs reportedly charged at the officers. The officers then opened fire inside of the residence, hitting one of the dogs, who retreated up the stairs to the 2nd floor after being shot.

The current condition of the dog who was shot and injured by police was not reported. Police said the five pit bulls had been involved in a fight with a small dog that lived next door. The owner of the small dog was reportedly bit in the leg and back by one of the pit bulls. A 33-year old woman was also bit by the dogs while attempting to intervene. The small dog was rushed to the vet and last reported to be in very serious condition.
