Jalen Mickens (age not disclosed), from Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder, conspiracy, and assault charges, for his part in two separate shootings that left two people dead in 2021.

A report from NBC-10 Philly said Mickens was reportedly part of the “O2da4 and “FSB” gangs that primarily operate in the West Philadelphia area, according to the District Attorney’s Office, who prosecuted the case.
According to prosecutors: Mickens was part of a group of individuals who open fired into a crowd of people at a cookout on July 4, 2021. More than 100 shots were reportedly fired during the shooting that left 23-year old clothing store owner, Sircarr Johnson Jr. and 21-year old, fashion designer, Salahaldin Mahmoud, dead. Prosecutors said Mickens and his group believed they were shooting at rival gang members. Neither Mahmoud or Johnson Jr. were reported to be gang members.
Johnson had actually been hosting a free Bar-B-Que for the neighborhood, in celebration of the anniversary of his clothing store. Mickens was sentenced to serve 22.5 to 50-years in prison. A second defendant in this case has not yet went to trial.
