43-year old Gabriel Cartagena, turned himself in to Allentown Police on Thursday night to face charges related to the murder of 44-year old, Ada Ortiz and her 1-year old grandson, Sebastian Serrano Jr.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the murders happened inside of a home on Chestnut Street in Allentown, P.A. at around 8:40 p.m. on December 29, 2023.
Police said they found the two victims in the living room. Cartagena was charged with two counts of criminal homicide and related charges. A 3rd victim, Leandro Ortiz was found by police in the kitchen. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper chest. Ortiz who is married to Ada Ortiz said the suspect had entered the kitchen and turned to fire on a 7-year old who was also in the home. Ortiz stepped between the suspect and gun and was hit by gunfire. Leandro Ortiz was rushed to a nearby hospital. His last known condition was not reported. A possible motive for the murders was not reported.
There was no information reported about Cartegena’s initial court appearance on the charges.
