Two men were reportedly shot during a broad-daylight double shooting that left one of the victims deceased in Southwest Philadelphia yesterday.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened on the 1900 block of South 61st Street at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
A man believed to be in his mid-20’s was shot multiple times. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving. A 21-year old man was also hit during the double shooting. He was shot in the leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in stable condition. A possible motive for the shooting was not reported.
“Today, two participants in the city of Philadelphia’s Group Violence Intervention (GVI) program were victims of a shooting that resulted in one death and one injury. We cannot release the names of the GVI participants at this time because there is an investigation underway by the Philadelphia Police Department. We will provide more information when we are able. We would like to first and foremost offer our sincere condolences to the victim’s family who lost their loved one today and to also offer our support and prayers to the family of the victim now in the hospital in stable condition,” City Officials said in a written statement released on Thursday afternoon.
No suspects were named and no arrests have been made at this time.
