A 47-year old man was reportedly critically injured after being hit by a vehicle that initially stopped and checked on the victim after hitting him in West Philadelphia yesterday, but disappeared before the police arrived at the scene.
A report from 6-ABC Action News said the hit-and-run happened at 52nd & Jefferson Streets at around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
The victim was reportedly struck by a dark-colored sedan heading North as he crossed 52nd Street. Police said the driver got out of the vehicle to check on the victim lying in the street, but was gone by the time police arrived at the scene. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition.
An investigation is ongoing. Police are looking for the driver of the sedan.
