A man believed to be between the ages of 18-22 years of age was reportedly shot and killed during an attempted carjacking in the Pennsport section of the city yesterday.
A report from 6-ABC Action News said police were called to the 1400 block of S Front Street at around 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
First arriving police officers at the scene reported finding the suspect suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased and another suspect reportedly attempted to carjack the victim inside of the former United Artist Theater parking lot.
The victim stayed on the scene after the shooting. He was briefly detained before police released him, calling the incident “an obvious case of self-defense”. No charges have been filed against the victim. The second suspect remains on the loose.
