A report from The Miami Herald said Black’s probation stems from a 2019 arrests that saw Black plea guilty to lying on a background check form when he purchased handguns from a weapons store in Hialeah, Florida. His original sentence was 46 months in prison, but the sentence was commuted by former President Donald Trump in 2021. Black was placed on probation after his release, which ends in 2024.

Black and his lawyers had been in court requesting Black be released to a treatment facility in Arizona to be treated for his severe drug addiction, instead of keeping him detained at the Federal Detention Center. Judge Beccara denied Black’s request, leaving Black no choice but to have to wait until he goes in front of the District Judge to find out if he will be released. A date for Black’s next court appearance was not reported, but January 2024 will be the earliest date available as the holidays will keep most courts closed for the rest of the year.
