A jury has awarded former election workers Wandrea “Shay” Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman, a total of $148 in damages after finding disgraced, former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani liable for damages caused to the pair that resulted in the mother/daughter facing racist threats and harassment from followers of the former President, Donald Trump.

A report from ABC News said the jury awarded Freeman and Moss $75 million apiece. The audience in the courtroom reportedly let out a loud gasp as the verdict was read by the jury foreperson. The jury then awarded Moss and Freeman another $36 million in other damages.
The verdict was reached by the jury after nearly 10 hours of deliberation. Giuliani showed no emotion as the verdict was read. The former Mayor called the proceedings “absurd” and said he plans to appeal the verdict immediately.
“The absurdity of the number merely underscores the absurdity of the entire proceeding. It will be reversed so quickly it will make your head spin, and the absurd number that just came in will help that actually”, Giuliani told reporters outside of the courtroom after the verdict.
On the other side of the courtroom, Moss and Freeman hugged each other and their attorneys after the verdict was read in the courtroom.
“Money will never solve all my problems. I can never move back into the house that I call home. I will always have to be careful about where I go and who I share to choose my name with. I miss my home. I miss my neighbors and I miss my name”, Freeman told reporters outside of the courtroom.
Giuliani is still facing criminal charges as a co-defendant in the Georgia case accusing Donald Trump and 18 others of working to subvert the results of the 2020 presidential election. Giuliani has pleaded not guilty in that case.
