A report from 6-ABC Action News said the incident happened at the Wendy’s on the 900 block of Cottman Avenue at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

According to police: the suspect hid in some bushes near the restaurant and waited for the manager to attempt to get into her car before ambushing her. The suspects reportedly put the 25-year old manager in a headlock before pistol-whipping her. The suspect then pulled the manager back into the restaurant where four other employees were inside waiting on their rides home. After forcing everyone into the back office the suspect went for the cash registers. After discovering they were empty, the suspect demanded money. He was told the registers had already been emptied and the money was placed into a safe that they could not access. At that point, the suspect walked away and simply left the business without causing any more drama.

The manager was checked out and treated for injuries at the restaurant by medics. The suspect was reported to be wearing all black. A hoodie, gloves and a mask that only showed his/her eyes. Police said it was fortunate that the attempted robbery didn’t end with anyone seriously physically injured.
