A Septa police officer reportedly shot a man armed with a knife who had just stabbed 3 people including an unarmed security guard, in Center City last night.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the incident happened at Broad Street & S. Penn Square at around 8 p.m. on Monday night.
According to Septa Police: an unarmed security guard approached the man. He stabbed her in the neck. The suspect then slashed at least two passengers before fleeing the platform. Septa Police caught up to the suspect as he was exiting the station. A short chase ensued before a Septa Officer deployed his taser. According to police the taser was ineffective at stopping the suspect. That’s when another Septa Officer, a 6-year veteran of the force, reportedly shot the suspect 3 times.
The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital. His current condition was not reported. One witness at the scene said he saw the chase and shooting.
“I seen the transit cops. They was coming from the south side of Broad Street and when they came this way, they shot the guy with the taser. When they shot the guy with the taser, he ran in that direction. When he ran in that direction over there, they ended up shooting him three times and he went down”, said eyewitness, Lamar H. from North Philly.
The three victims all suffered “non life-threatening” injuries.
