A 79-year old woman was reportedly shot in the head during a shootout between two men in the Hunting Park section of the city yesterday.
A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened on the 3400 block of North 3rd Street at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning.
According to police: there was an altercation between a man on a dirt bike and another male. The argument quickly escalated and the two men exchanged gunfire. The 79-year old victim was leaving the grocery store on the corner at the same time that the shootout erupted.
The victim was struck in the head by a bullet. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was last reported to be in critical condition. Police placed at least 20 evidence markers at the scene.
Police said they are searching for two suspects in connection with the shooting. No arrests were reported.
