An unidentified woman was reportedly found on a sidewalk in North Philly deceased from a gunshot wound to the head early this morning.
A report from 6-ABC Action News said police found the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk near 7th & W Norris Streets at around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
According to police: officers were called to the location for a report of a man with a gun in the area. When officers arrived they found the woman unresponsive on the sidewalk.
The victim, believed to be in her 30’s or 40’s, was pronounced dead shortly after being found by responding officers. Police said there are several businesses in the area with surveillance cameras.
“It’s unusual. It’s not one of our target areas -grid areas- where there is gun violence. It’s normally a very quiet area, a very quiet neighborhood, so it’s unusual for someone to be shot – shat and killed at this area”, said Philadelphia Chief Inspector, Scott Small.
A possible motive for the shooting was not reported. No suspects were named and no arrests have been made at this time.
